istinguished guests: I am honored to join you for the change of command between General Leso and General Borghini, and to formally open the third CoESPU class for middle management and high level stability police officers.
In a very short time, Italy brought forward from conception to reality a Center of Excellence for Stability Police Officers here in the historic, and beautiful, city of Vicenza.
Less than one year from graduating its first class, you officers from Cameroon, India, Jordan, Kenya, and Senegal represent the maturing of CoESPU into an efficient and capable institution increasing global capabilities for peace and stability operations.
CoESPU's importance to Italy and the United States is exemplified by the presence today of General Mencagli, the Carabinieri Corps Deputy Commander, and General Helmick, the United States Army Commander of SETAF.
The countries that participate in CoESPU send their best and their brightest officers. Participation in CoESPU is a commitment that you will take the training, experience, and attitude you learn here back to your home countries, and train other officers.
We will continue to work together, even after graduation, to increase world capability to field stability police units.
I commend you officers for having been selected to attend CoESPU, and I wish you the best of luck in your studies and training.
General Leso, the operational focus you brought to CoESPU is evident everywhere. I know that you will continue to bring the same energy and intensity to your new command, and I wish you and your family continued success.
General Borghini, I look forward eagerly to our close and continued collaboration. CoESPU now enters a new and challenging phase to translate early success to lasting results.
I am firmly convinced CoESPU will face this challenge with the courage, strength, and energy that is the hallmark of the Carabinieri Corps. Thank you.
