ndy Hellman of the U.S. Consulate in Milan spent some time with high school students from the Liceo Manzoni to talk about the United States government and political system. Mr. Hellman visited both branches of the Liceo on May 4th and 5th.
Addressing an audience of more than 100 students and teachers at each branch, Mr. Hellman discussed civics, explaining the role of Congress, the powers of the President, local government and community issues, and the electoral system.
There was lively discussion after the presentation during which students posed many questions on both the subject matter as well as about current issues in the United States.
The event is part of a broader effort on the part of the U.S. Consulate in Milan aimed at engaging high school students in the Milan Consular district to increase awareness and understanding of life in the United States.
