pecial agents from the U.S. Secret Service and Drug Enforcement Agency visited Caserma Ederle High School on March 12 to talk with teens about careers with the government.
The senior class gathered in the school's media center and listened to stories about government law enforcement.
“We're here to plant seeds in the teen's heads,” said Karen Gerstbrein, Secret Service special agent, “not necessarily about the Secret Service, but about government jobs in general.”
The students listened to stories ranging from guarding the President to busting drug runners, and then asked questions about how they could get involved in these career fields.
The agents, who are stationed in Italy, tour American schools in the country to help recruit for the future of the Secret Service and the DEA.
“We go around to many different schools,” said Gerstbrein. “They are our future.”
