Just in time for Economic Statecraft Day, Alec Ross, Senior Advisor for Innovation to Secretary Clinton, was the keynote speaker at three events on digital diplomacy, digital economy, corporate communication and innovation.
On Wednesday evening, Mr. Ross gave the keynote remarks at “Meet the Media Guru,” organized by Public Affairs Milan with Milan’s Chamber of Commerce and MGM Digital Communication. Mr. Ross spoke to an audience of 120 geeks and business people, many of whom live-tweeted his remarks, including: “the world is not changing, the world has changed.” Serena Danna, journalist and blogger for centrist, top-circulation daily Corriere della Sera, posted an enthusiastic article on her influential blog Solferino28 and will write another one for Corriere’s Sunday supplement La Lettura.
On Thursday, Mr. Ross spoke about diplomacy and new media in a Turin event hosted by Minister Terzi and the Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs. Online, “Twiplomacy” was a trending topic on Twitter. Influential La Stampa editor-in-chief Mario Calabresi wrote a profile of Mr. Ross and his work to promote the digital economy and new media that was published on La Stampa’s front page: http://rome.state.gov/public/pasnapshot/2012-06-14/DailySnapshot.doc
