NGO Leaders and US Expert Discuss Digital Networking

WongAY | 081712

In honor of digital communication expert Timothy Brauhn’s visit to Milan, Public Affairs Milan hosted a forum with ACLI (20,000 members registered in Milan province) for 50 Catholic and Muslim NGO leaders active on interfaith dialogue and social assistance to minorities and needy populations.  This was our first effort to work with the Catholic Church on immigration/integration issues, and the speaker was particularly successful in explaining how digital technologies can assist people of faith.  PAO offered welcoming remarks and highlighted the need for multi-faith cooperation, and Tim Brauhn detailed the enormous communicational power of social networks while offering our Muslim contacts practical advice on how to communicate publicly.

Il Pime (Pontificio Istituto Missioni Estere, circ. 10,000) then interviewed Mr. Brauhn about his 1010 Project that partners with community-based organizations and social entrepreneurs in Kenya to provide business education and strategic networking, his work as the Social Media Manager for the Islamic Networks Group, and development of FaithNews, a popular multi-faith smart phone mobile app. http://goo.gl/uvrjZ
