CG in Verona, Meeting With L’Arena Journalists

CG Scott travelled to Verona for his first official visit to one of the most industrious cities in North East Italy. CG Scott’s agenda included a courtesy call on local daily newspaper L’Arena, where he met senior editor Gabrielle Colleoni (first on the left) and the head of the economic desk Paolo Dal Ben (second on the left). The meeting was followed by a one-on-one interview, which was published under the headline “Italy Remains Strategic For the United States.” The interview focused mainly on economic issues: the investment opportunities in Italy for US companies and in the US for Italian companies, the efforts put in place by Monti’s government to streamline Italian bureaucracy, and on the US military presence in Northern Italy. CG stressed the fact that US-Italy relations are excellent and that Italy is a strategically important ally to the US.
