INFORMATION  RESOURCE  CENTER


The Information Resource Center is part of the U.S. Consulate General and provides information about the United States in different areas of expertise. The Center aims to serve public administrations, private institutions, non-governmental organizations, journalists, academicians, researchers, companies and professionals and gives information about the following specific subject areas related to the United States:

  • Politics and Culture
  • Economy and Commerce
  • International Relations, Security and Defense
  • Civil Society and Human Rights
  • Environment and other topics related to Health

The Information Resource Center includes an up-to-date reference collection (encyclopedias, directories, yearbooks, handbooks), government documents and think tank reports. The IRC also subscribes to a group of interesting reports published in the U.S., and has a powerful set of online electronic databases.

Please, send your information request in writing by fax, letter or e-mail, indicating your name, your institution and a description of the type of information you need.

— VISA  INFORMATION —

You may be able to travel to the U.S.A. without a visa as part of the Visa Waiver Program. Please see the Visa Services webpage.

Non-Immigrant Visa Services
If you are not able to travel to the U.S. under the Visa Waiver Program, you must apply for a visa and request a visa interview. Visa interviews are by appointment only. For general information and appointments, please call the Telephone Visa Information Service toll number at
899.34.34.32.

Visa interview appointments can only be scheduled through the toll number above. Heavy call volumes may cause lines to drop. Should this happen, you will not be charged for the call. Please try calling at a later time.


— HOURS  OF  OPERATION —

In emergency cases, such as the death, serious injury or arrest of a U.S. citizen in the Milan Consular District, please immediately contact our duty officer at 02-290351.

Solo ed esclusivamente in caso di emergenza (decessi, incidenti gravi o arresto di un cittadino americano) contattate il funzionario di turno per le emergenze al numero 02-290351.

The Consular Section offers emergency walk-in services (for U.S. citizens only), Monday through Friday 8:30 – 12:00 noon.

The Consulate is closed during U.S. and Italian holidays.
