BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Carol Z. Perez assumed her duties as Consul General at the U.S. Consulate General Milan in May 2009. Previously, Ms. Perez was the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Secretary in the Executive Secretariat supporting Secretaries Powell and Rice from 2003 to 2009.

Ms. Perez is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, class of Minister-Counselor. She began her career with the Department in September 1987, serving in Barcelona, Spain, as Consul General from 2001 to 2003, as well as at the U.S. Embassies in Rome and Madrid. She has also served in a variety of Washington assignments, including as Deputy Executive Secretary under Secretary Albright, Director of the Executive Secretariat Staff office and as Special Assistant to the Under Secretary for Management.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Ms. Perez received her undergraduate degree from Hiram College in Ohio and her Masters Degree in Health Care Administration from the George Washington University. She and her husband Al have three children.

Carol Perez è stata nominata Console Generale degli Stati Uniti presso il Consolato Generale di Milano nel maggio 2009. Prima di assumere questo incarico, Ms. Perez è stata Direttore Esecutivo e Vice Segretario Esecutivo presso la Segreteria Esecutiva dei Segretari di Stato Powell e Rice dal 2003 al 2009.

Diplomatico di carriera Ms. Perez fa parte del Senior Foreign Service con il titolo Ministro Consigliere. Ha iniziato la sua carriera presso il Dipartimento di Stato nel settembre 1987. Dal 2001 al 2003 è stata Console Generale a Barcellona e ha ricoperto incarichi diplomatici presso l'Ambasciata Americana di Roma e di Madrid. In questi anni, inoltre, ha assunto diversi incarichi a Washington, tra cui quello di Vice Segretario Esecutivo durante il mandato del Segretario di Stato Albright, quello di Direttore del Personale della Segreteria Esecutiva e quello di Assistente Particolare del Sottosegretario per il Management.

Originaria di Cleveland, Ohio, Ms. Perez ha conseguito il diploma di laurea presso lo Hiram College in Ohio e il Master in Amministrazione Sanitaria presso la George Washington University. Ms. Perez ed il marito Al hanno tre figli.
